Twenty two on the 16 november.

I know it's abit late to blog about this now, since it's over last week. Nevertheless, I still think it's good to jot down my thoughts and feelings at the age of 22 now. It was a special birthday, as it was celebrated overseas and without b by my side. My group of exchange friend were nice to celebrate for me twice, first on the 15nov night and the second one on the day itself. I expected the first celebration since I know for sure they will do a mini-surprise for me having seen the last few friends whom had their birthday celebrated this way too. It was simple and short, we were chilling outside GS25. They bought champagne and a green tea mochi ice cream that tasted so so. Not forgetting the chocolate cake that was lit up with two candles =). The celebration ended after they finished their cup-noodles.

The second day, which is the actual day itself. I did not expected anymore celebration since I already got one the day before. I wasn't feeling exactly happy on my birthday itself. The reason being, I did not have anything to look forward to and I was pretty disappointed that none of my close group of friends wished me at 12am(am i childish to wish for that?). I was thinking if they had forgotten about my birthday since all of them are busy with their working life now. It will be sad to know that they were reminded by the facebook notification. I was thinking if our friendship is drifting since I did not get to talk to them much. No offline message asking how I was doing, I did not even talk to them for more than 3 times. I did, however, got to talk to zhenli twice and verlyn once. Seriously, I do not want to lose this group of friends. They are my group of true friends that has been with me since secondary school. Maybe I should make the first move, or take the initiative to start a conversation with them first. (yes, I should just do it later)

Now back to the 16 nov, as it was a tuesday, I had a long day in school. After I'm done with class, me, chiu and shan proceed on to the paradise casino! Remember I said on my previous blog, I wanted so badly to recoup back my losses the other time. Yes and I decided I should just go back to the casino on my birthday, believing that I will be super lucky on the day itself. It's my day =). I claimed a 20,000 won gamble voucher from the casino. It means that you can use that voucher to bet on the roulette. You can only win that amount it you place it at a correct bet. Since I was a noob in this, I decided to bet the easiest thing. I bet on the red color and I was really lucky that the ball stopped on a red spot! Lucky me =). SHan and chiu-chiu wasnt as lucky as they got the same voucher but did not get that free 20,000. SO after this mini-warm up, I did my observation at the blackjack table with chiu. It was crowded that day, the table was full with gamblers from Japan. They were nice though, guided us on when we should just hit or stand. Occasionally, they were laughing at us as I think they find us cute. We shouted "Ace Ace, picture picture and Yes! when the banker got more than 21" we are like just small kids to them, i think. However, I think they enjoyed our company and started shouting with us too. The majority of players were winning and I was happy for them too. Nevertheless, we came prepared with strategy! I passed my strategy book to shan and asked her to guided us through that. And I believe it really does worked, coupled with my luck that day. Me and chiu were really lucky as we did not use our capital to continue the game, we used our winnings to play. Blackjack was really intensive. I got really nervous every game, especially when we were losing. WHat was really memorable was the last game. Chiu got blackjack and I gotten two aces. In casino setting, two aces doesn't mean anything. So i decided to split the cards. Then, another ace came again and so I splitted the card. Meaning I have 3 sets of cards with ace. And at the end of the game, we won all 3 sets!!!! I cant describe what that feels. It was really awesome! I just feel like jumping up and dance. Being satisfied with our winning, we decided to call it a day at the casino. And I made a promise to myself that after recouping this sum of losses, I will not gamble in a casino again!

After our casino adventure, we went to have our dinner. CHiu brought the two of us to this place near our school that sells fried chicken. The chicken tasted not bad and we went back to dorm after that. I wasn't expecting any other surprise but this really caught me by surprise. When I opened my door to my dorm, it was pitch dark in the room. I only saw blue lights at the balcony and I was so shocked that I could hardly move. Many thoughts were swirling, I was thinking about ghost, about people repairing the balcony light perhaps and when shan shouted me to step in, I realised the cake at the corner. Then I came to the conclusion that they were surprising me! How stupid I was, to think of ghost! When I drew the curtains apart, I saw them standing behind my underwater world shower captain and wishing me happy birthday. I was really touched, it has been long since I last had this kind of surprise. They decorated the whole balcony to make it looked like an aquarium. It was really sweet. Thank to shan who came out with the idea and the rest to draw and paste all the sea animals up. It was memorable. As usual, we ate our basking robins cake. I was also touched by daddy who stayed up to wish me happy birthday. And my bro to skype me and wish me happy birthday too. I'm looking forward for my birthday celebration with B when I am back. Yes, that's what I experience on my 22 and I simply love the dress that they gave me.

little gal look to a more mature serene

korean salon experience~ Juno's hair salon

It all took place at Korea, somyeon. A high-end area like Singapore's Orchard road I heard. I overcomed my fear and went ahead to get my hair curled at Juno's Hair Salon. THe salon was classy and comfy. The hairstylist was cute and friendly.

Thank to D our SMU korean guy friend who happen to be in Busan too. He's the translator of the day. =) Very nice of him to wait for us to get our hair done.

Nice and spacious salon
They serve snacks and drinks while you wait for your service.

That's how the washing area looks like.

That's me waiting for my hair to be washed.

This 3 of us after we have our hair done. I think shan really look good in that hairstyle.

that's my hairstylist, she's cute isn't it?

missing you.

I think I smiled really sweetly in this. Miss you.

lazy sunday

Nothing beats having a nice cup of hot lipton tea and enjoying great music. Looking out the window, you see part of busan and misty hills behind. Life's good. I love it. Being alone isn't really that bad. =D

My 100,000 won essay

Wrote my 100,000 won essay on the 4 nov as the dateline was the same day itself at 5pm korean time. It was hectic, time was short and the topic wasn't something that I am familiar with. I took the entire day from the time I woke up for breakfast till the dateline itself. I read tons and tons of online articles, news in order to grasp what the situation is currently and how I can go about writting it. Here's the topic: What will happen to East Asia 20 years from now? What positive event will happen? What negative event will happen? How to avoid the negative to ensure the positive from happening? Five students will be selected for their piece, and they need to present it infront of the students and professors.

From the very start, I don't even know which region or countries belong to the East Asia. You can say that I totally start from scratch when I wrote this piece. It was 5pages minimal. I really had a hard time given my limited vocabulary, grammar and knowledge. The only good thing is, it's double-spacing. I am proud that I wrote it and I felt accomplised. It was a challenge to me and I want to take up the challenge on top of the 100,000 won certifate that enticed me too. How i wish they were cash rather than certifate (vouchers kind). I still couldn't figure out where I can use them. I could only recognise burger king, kfc and pizza hut. I feel sad for shan because she wrote the essay and was selected too. Due to the reason that she couldnt be around to present (since she is in jeju), the professor did not qualify her to award her the 100,000 certifate too. I'm thinking if I should split my rewards with her.I have left her a msg on facebook and it'now pending for her reply. It always good to share your happiness. I believe. =)

Over the Moon =D

I simply can't contain my joy that I am experiencing currently. =D I'm feeling blissful...thanks to you baby. The story starts here....

I was deeply in sleep and was awoke by the ringing from the room's phone. It's weird though, because no one will actually call me via the dorm phone. I expected it to be wrong number. Then came the voice of a korean man, talking non stop in korean. It was then I started to say..han guk lor bo la..meaning I don't understand korean. I heard my korean name though, so I was thinking if it's regarding me. However, I still couln't figure out what he was trying to say(I was still in the half-awake stage), so I just kept quiet. I think he kind of gave up on me and hang up the phone. So..I went back to my beauty sleep.

I couldn't remember how long was it, someone knocked on my door. I was quite irritated to be awaken up again. Somemore my hair was really messy, I haven't wash up and I'm not wearing my bra. I used my pillow to cover my chest and dragged myself to answer the door. I Saw a ah ji shi, one of the security guard. He handed me a parcel and asked me to sign. I saw my name, my address and Joel's name on it. Yeah, I was thinking, my parcel had come! I was really happy. Because I was really drowsy, I went back to sleep again after that. I slept all the way till 1 plus korea time, realised that I have only half an hour more before the lunch time ended. I rushed to brush my teeth, changed and went straight down for my "breakfast". It's gravy pork and I ate quite a lot.

After lunch, it's time to open my surprise. Although I already know that B will send me my lipton tea, macdonald packet sugar and eye drops that I have requested, I was awaiting the surprise that he added in. =) He bought me mustard pretzels from muji and mashmallows. (I miss them). Not to forget, the love letters from him. haha I always love to read letters from him. It's a heart-warming moment, I no longer feel lonely for awhile. I was excited so I logged in to msn immediately hoping that he will be online too. I requested him to come appear online so I can webcam him. He was worried for a moment, why did I rushed to ask him to cam me. haha and then, I showed him the parcel. I couldn't help but smile continuouly to him and told him how happy I am. (till now while I'm blogging, I'm smiling and slipping my honey drink). I love you my dear..thank you so much!

Pictures to remember the happy moments:

The feeling of Guilt

Yeah..I'm having guilty. Guilty for gambling my money away. I lost $120 today in casino. First time of my life, I lost so much. Not to worry, I'm feeling ok and I can handle this. No tears and I'm still able to cope with the fact. Although I could not believe that I'm actually willing to fork out this amount to gamble, I realise that I am able to let go of things more easily. It's a lesson learnt. Gambling is so wrong. I realise I have been so naive at times. One will never always win in a game. Now, I just wish that I can win back my capital. Please just let me take back my capital and I will stop gambling for the rest of the days in korea. I admit I'm too obssessed at the gambling table, constantly hoping my fu can help me to win. I'm so so sorry for having that thought. I really regretted my action and I hope dou pei won't blame me and forgive me for my stupidness.

I just want to tell someone about this. THe first person that came to my mind was baby. I wanted to tell him about my stupidness. I was afraid at first that he will be angry with me. Nevertheless, he showed his understanding and I am grateful for it as he did not blame me. Thank you baby really! Thank for not making me feel worst.

This experience perphaps brought us (sophie, chiu chiu and shan) closer since all of us lost but in different amounts. Chiu Chiu lost about $240 but deducting off all his winning previously, he only lost abt $60. Spohie too lost $60 while shan had already lost $36. And me, I lost $120. Although we are upset about losing, we tried to laugh it off. Be optimistic, we told each other that while we were walking back to the train station and up the mountain where our dorm is. Ya, that's the end of the story today. Hopefully, I can get back my winnings =)
